The band worked with producer Patrick Himes at Reel Love Recording Company to lay it all to analog tape and Gotta Groove Records to press it straight to vinyl. It's working-class, country tinged, high octane rock 'n' roll delight that we're proud to rep. There are still pre-sale tickets available for the Peter Mulvey and Shrug show this Saturday, June 9th, just $10 in advance, $12 day of show. Doors open after the wine tasting, at 8:00, and music starts at 9:00.
We’re throwing a special pre-show reception on to welcome our buddy Peter back to town and to do something fun with the folks at Yellow Cab Tavern and Christopher’s Restaurant. From 6:30 to 8:00 pm on June 9 at Yellow Cab, we’ll host a wine tasting catered by Christopher’s featuring a flight of 6 wines from their new summer list and a healthy spread of heavy hors d’oeuvres for a grazing “tapas style” dinner.
Tickets are PRE-SALE ONLY and include six 2 oz pours of wine, hors d’oeuvres dinner, admission to the show and, of course, great hangs with us and Peter. Food will include vegetarian and gluten-friendly options as well as omnivorous and gluten-glorious selections. Something for everyone!
Tickets will be available until Thursday, June 7th and are limited, so make sure to order before then. Print your e-mail confirmation (this is your e-ticket) and check in at the Yellow Cab bar for your tasting tickets.
Ian Kaplan has played in Motel Beds, Lab Partners, Goodbye/Crusher, Lioness, Company Man, Feathered Serpent, Human Reunion, Jayne Sachs Band and many more. He's a friend to many, an incredible musician, and he's one of the funniest people you'll ever meet, despite his longstanding health issues.
Ian recently had the misfortune of needing a liver transplant -- and the good fortune of receiving one. While we're so glad Ian is on the road to recovery, he and his wife, Brooke, are now facing the difficult reality of enormous medical bills. Magnaphone had an idea. Let's re-release one of our favorite albums by the Motel Beds, on vinyl for the first time, to benefit our friend Ian and provide his friends and fans with a slice of audiophile bliss.
Bands and fans from the Dayton area contributed to remaster and press Dumb Gold as a donation to our friend. It's being mastered by Carl Saff and pressed at Gotta Groove Records in Cleveland, OH. There will be an extremely limited run of 300 copies available, first come first serve, for $25 each. One hundred percent of sales will be used to pay down Ian's medical bills.

The Magnaphone fold is preparing for the release of The Boxcar Suite's 'Further In and Farther Out', officially out this Saturday, April 28th. There will be a big celebration at Yellow Cab Tavern in Dayton, OH. Seth Canan and the Carriers and Speaking Suns will play before The Boxcar Suite. Doors are at 8 pm and the show begins at 9 pm.
