SETH GILLIAM AND THE FAKE NEWS
DISCOGRAPHY
From yearning for a lost love to embodying a hyperbolic social media-based conspiracy theorist, ‘Misconstrued’, the psych-tinged groove debut from Seth Gilliam and the Fake News, digs deep at life on earth and beyond.
Seth Gilliam and is his band of merry pranksters arrive fresh with a debut album both cleanly original and steeped in the sounds of Floyd-esque psychedelia, Stax Records and anthemic KISS-like rock ‘n’ roll. The result is an eclectic record that ultimately serves Gilliam’s expansive lyrical content well.
The album was recorded on 24 tracks to 2 inch tape at Reel Love Recording Company in Dayton, OH with Patrick Himes serving as engineer and producer. Recording analog inspired the band to record the whole record live, with the core of all 8 tracks done in one weekend. As a result, the album has all the energy of a live performance with the benefit of judicious, jangly enhancement through Himes’ signature production style. It’s an impressive and bold first step that listeners will surely find their way back to repeatedly.
